Moms (and Dads) reading this, take note! If you are tired of round after round of illness in your family, this could be a way to cure your family, and it’s so easy, and doesn’t cost a penny.

I admit I put off watching this movie. For months. I kept seeing it posted to different Telegram channels I frequent (e.g. Beautiful Universe) and my awake and aware friends in Canada posted it to healthy living channel I am on, but I avoided it for some reason.

I thought I already knew all about the healing power of nature.

I knew the fact that trees produce negative ions and oodles of oxygen that is very restorative to the human body.

But in fact, I didn’t know everything there is to know, or even the most important part of walking in nature.

I had no idea about the healing power of simply taking off your shoes and walking barefoot.

“The Earthing Movie: The Remarkable Science of Grounding” is directed by Sundance Award-Winning filmmakers Josh and Rebecca Tickell.

Before watching this film, I had no idea how much walking barefoot or lying in full contact on the ground, connected to the earth could heal a person.

I am especially stoked that it might help me heal my chronic fatigue, and even lose a lot of weight like the filmaker!

My son has ADHD and if this can help balance his energy and moods out, and help improve his attention span, I am all for it.

My son and I tried to ground ourselves today, sitting in a local park with your shoes off for 10 minutes, and the change in my very-active-and-always-moving-and-talking son was huge. He noticed the difference too, admitting that although he had been reluctant to take off his shoes in public and walk on the dirt in the park, he felt way better. He wanted to come and do this everyday.

He calmed down visibly. He became quiet and reflective instead of babbling about everything that crossed his mind.

He paid more attention to what I was saying and had more of a two way conversation with me, instead of his one ways monologuing rambles and jittery non-stop movements that they used to call ‘being hyperactive’ when I was a kid.

We both feel asleep more easily than usual.

I felt energized and a bit buzzy, actually.

Best of all, I didn’t get up three times in the night like I have been.

Amazing!

I woke up feeling like I had had a decent rest for a change.

Who would have thought that wearing shoes would prevent the most powerful healing tool we have as humans? Simply connecting to the electrical energy of the earth by walking barefoot on it?

I appreciated how thoroughly the film makers investigated the science behind ‘earthing’. I knew were are electromagnetic beings living in an electromagnetic universe, but I hadn’t thought about how we had been cut off from earth’s natural electromagnetic frequencies.

I also appreciated how they delved into what inflammation is, and why it is found at the root of so many of what we call chronic diseases. I hadn’t realized that inflammation can happen at the neuron level too.

It seems too good to be true, so I looked up the research on grounding to see if it corroborates what the film present as strongly as it was described in the film.

Indeed it does.

Grounding is not an alternative health ‘ thing’ and not a passing fad.

I am a believer now.

Here’s an overview of what I found in the scientific and educational literature.

The physics of grounding have been well documented as a process that removes excess ions from an object (or living being) to bring it into balance. While this by itself does not explain the healing properties of grounding, it sets the stage for it.

Why this is important is explained well by Laura Koniver in her article, “Practical Applications of Grounding to Support Health,” The natural universe conducts an energy current known as a direct current (DC). This DC circuit of energy flows through everything on our planet, including plants, animals, human beings, and the surface of our entire globe, creating a global electrical circuit. DC energy is also what the living human body uses to function, as everything from the beating of our heart to the movement of our muscles to our brain’s ability to think operates using DC energy.” Her exploration of the studies in the academic literature “suggest that becoming a part of the earth’s global DC circuit enhances our conductive health, which has far reaching implications to all our organ systems that utilize DC energy and conductivity to work, including but not limited to: our central and peripheral nervous system, our musculoskeletal system, and our cardiovascular system”. It is therefore not a big jump in logic to accept that bringing humans into balance with their ever flowing circuit of earth energy would be beneficial to both humans and the earth.

There is also a growing body of evidence that one of the major benefits is the reduction of inflammation in the human body after it has been grounded. This is a theme well demonstrated in the Earthing film, and there is also published scientific evidence of this.

For example, you can check out recent research study results in this peer reviewed study published in Pubmed by the NIH (National Institute of Health) , “The Effects of Grounding( Earthing) on inflammation, the immune response, wound healing, and the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases” by James Oschman, Gaetan Chevalier and Richard Brown.. The results reported were surprisingly positive. The researchers were able to quantify their findings in studies on animals (called ‘organisms’ in this study), discovering that “grounding an organism produces measurable differences in the concentrations of white blood cells, cytokines, and other molecules involved in the inflammatory response”, noting delayed soreness, improved immune response and decreased inflammation in the animals they studied after they were grounded. This lead them to conclude that “Grounding reduces pain and alters the numbers of circulating neutrophils and lymphocytes, and also affects various circulating chemical factors related to inflammation” and suggesting that this is a new, important area of study that deserves to be explored much further.

I especially love how the whole idea for the film came out of the filmmaker’s own experience with how it has healed their daughter and improved her immune response to the point that she has not had to go back to the hospital for over a year at the time of filming.

So the best way to decide if this is the real deal is to try it yourself.

Drop me a line if you notice the big difference I and my son have! Would love to hear from you.
